​A Patriotic Christmas

Americans have been known to show their patriotism in many different ways from the nation’s beginning in 1776. During the Victorian period, patriotic tributes were sometimes incorporated into holiday displays, especially around times of war. In tribute to America’s 250th anniversary, this special guided tour through the historic 1895 Hawkins House uses objects from the museum collection to explore some of these displays of patriotism during the Christmas season from the American Civil War through World War I.
