Cooking Class – Party in the USA: Celebrate with Wine Cocktails

Join us for a lively, hands-on wine class led by our very own Ryan Kalkwarf, a sommelier with over 20 years of experience and a passion for turning great wine into unforgettable moments. In celebration of America’s 250th anniversary, this special edition explores creative and refreshing ways to enjoy wine beyond the glass—perfect for outdoor gatherings and effortless entertaining.

Ryan will guide participants through a selection of wine-based drinks and cocktails, including red and white sangria, a blueberry French 75, and a crisp white port and tonic. Along the way, you’ll discover how versatile wine can be when mixed, chilled, and reimagined for warm-weather occasions. Light bites and nibbles will be available on the tables to enjoy throughout the experience.

Throughout the class, you’ll learn essential techniques for building balanced wine cocktails, from flavor pairing and ingredient selection to presentation and serving. Ryan will break down what makes each drink work and how you can easily recreate them at home. Whether you’re new to wine or looking to expand your repertoire, this experience is designed to be fun, festive, and delicious.

MEET THE SOMMELIER:

With over 20 years in the hospitality industry from operating restaurants in nearly every position in the kitchen, behind the bar, and on the floor to running a private chef business, working in retail wine sales, food/beverage consulting, and selling wine for various distributors across several markets, Ryan joined Honeycomb Kitchen Shop in November of 2025 as a Wine Specialist to offer his expertise to the community at large.
