First Day Hike at Hobbs State Park

Thurs., January 1, 2026: First Day Hikes: Join our park staff and volunteers for one or both First Day Hikes, an annual tradition for many folks! Hot beverages and s’mores are available from 10:00 a.m.-2:30 p.m.

10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. First Day Hike: Monument Trail Tunnel Connector: Start the New Year off right with a hike at Hobbs! Join a park interpreter on this 4.2-mile, moderately difficult out-and-back section of the Monument Trails. We’ll discuss what a Monument Trail is, what goes into maintaining them, and the stories behind their names. Meet at the Monument Trailhead parking lot. Participants will receive a First Day Hike sticker! Before or after the hike enjoy a hot beverage and s’mores around the campfire! #FirstDayHikes #ArStateParks

1:30 – 2:15 p.m. First Day Hike: Ozark Plateau Trail: Everyone can start the New Year off right with a hike at Hobbs! Join a park interpreter to learn more about what animals do to survive the winter as we take a leisurely hike along this 0.5-mile paved and ADA accessible trail. Participants will receive a First Day Hike sticker! Before or after the hike enjoy a hot beverage and s’mores around the campfire! #FirstDayHikes #ArStateParks
