Day 1: Arrival & Exploring Downtown Rogers

Fuel up for the day’s adventures at Iron Horse Coffee Company, where you can build your own bagel sandwich or opt for a specialty sandwich to pair with a steamy chai latte or a mango fruit smoothie. Then get to know Rogers with a stroll through historic downtown Rogers. Drop into Honeycomb Kitchen Shop to peruse the collection of kitchenware and artisan foodstuffs and browse locally crafted goods, including ceramics, paper goods, paintings and jewelry, at Kaleidoscope Collective, your go-to shop for locally made art & goods in Arkansas. Kaleidoscope Collective features the work of over 40 different local artists, makers & creatives in Northwest Arkansas.

Hungry now? Grab lunch at The Rail – A Pizza Company. Start with an order of flash-fried pork shanks glazed with spicy barbecue sauce, then dig into a specialty pie such as The Dumpster, crowned with marinara sauce, pepperoni, Canadian bacon, hamburger, black and green olives, green pepper, onion and mushroom. Wash whatever you order down with a mimosa or one of the more than 30 beers available, including local selections from Ozark Beer Co. and New Province Brewing.

Spend the rest of the afternoon at the Daisy Airgun Museum, a nonprofit dedicated to preserving and promoting vintage artifacts produced by the Daisy company. The petite museum, tucked in an 1890s-era building in downtown Rogers, features an impressive collection of antique airguns, packaging, advertising and other memorabilia. Take a selfie in front of the world’s largest BB gun and buy your own Red Ryder at the gift shop.

After you get settled at your hotel or vacation rental, get back on the downtown bricks for dinner at Casa Alejo. Order a round of margs, chips and guacamole, and the juicy and flavorful arrachera (Mexican skirt steak). Be sure to save room for the churro fries topped with ice cream. Then enjoy a nightcap at Theo’s, a bar that shakes up killer dessert cocktails like the S’more Than A Feeling with stroopwafel-infused bourbon.

Day 2: Outdoor Adventures & Cultural Experiences

Start your second day in Rogers at Onyx Coffee Lab, an award-winning craft java purveyor inside the  historic 1907 building in downtown Rogers. There’s plenty of seating inside the white-walled, airy space, where you can linger over cups of single-origin coffee elevated with house-made ingredients such as browned butter and chocolate. Try a frittata with Mediterranean herbs and sun-dried tomato or a honey crunch croissant for breakfast and don’t forget to pick up some coffee beans or Onyx merch to take home as a souvenir.

Once you are well-caffeinated, choose how you’d like to experience northwest Arkansas’ outdoor splendor. Go hiking at Hobbs State Park-Conservation Area, a 12,056-acre wonderland of hardwood and pine forests and rocky granite terrain. Keep your eyes peeled for white-tailed deer and golden eagles you walk along the trails. Or if you prefer adventures on two wheels, head to Railyard Bike Park to test your skills on curved wall rides, elevated bridges, jumps and other features. There’s also a paved trail that connects the park to Lake Atalanta.

Make your way to Oz Smokehouse for a midday meal of Ozark-style barbecue by national barbecue competitor Jordan Poole. Share a meat platter with chopped brisket, pork, chicken, sausage links and grilled sourdough bread or order a trio of tacos (the Brick Street Hero with crushed Doritos and sliced avocado is a favorite).

After taking a quick nap at your hotel or vacation rental, head back out for a night out on the town. Dinner calls for burgers and shakes at Big Orange, an Arkansas-born and inspired chain that proudly serves premium Black Angus Beef. Then catch a concert at Railyard Live, Walmart AMP or The Music Depot. Then raise a glass to the day’s adventures at Fox Trail Distillery, which produces small-batch bourbon, gin, vodka and other liqueurs.

Day 3: Last-Minute Adventures

Enjoy your final meal in Rogers at Havana Tropical Grill, a family-owned restaurant that serves home-style Cuban cuisine from day to night. Order a hot-pressed Cubano sandwich stuffed with slow-roasted pork, ham and Swiss or the mofongo, green plantains mashed with garlic and chunks of succulent pork. Then stop at the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, an attraction nestled on 120-acres of Ozark landscape that houses a collection of art spanning from the early 16th century to the present day.

Whether you’re seeking to fill a weekend itinerary with outdoor adventures, cultural experiences or culinary exploration, northwest Arkansas has something to offer every traveler. Depart with fond memories of your time spent exploring Rogers, an ever-evolving destination you’ll want to return to again and again.
